What your clients look for on your website
- What do you do for me?
- Your services by their real names: VAT returns, annual accounts, income tax returns, payroll.
- What does it cost?
- Your rates the way you charge them: per month, per quarter, per year, per hour or from.
- Can we meet first?
- Call or email at the top; with the request form a client leaves their details for an introductory meeting.
- When can I reach you?
- Your office hours in a small table.
What’s on your bookkeeping website
Top to bottom, as in the example of Hartigan Accounts. A block you leave empty stays off, and with up to five pages your services, the part about you and contact each get a page of their own.
- At the top
- In the example, “Your books up to date, your returns on time”: your name, what you do and one button to call you.
- Services and prices
- Each service on its own line with the price you set; the example has 7 lines, such as ‘Quarterly bookkeeping’, ‘VAT return’ and ‘Income tax return for the self-employed’.
- Booking
- Only with Online booking: customers pick a service such as ‘Quarterly bookkeeping’, a day and a time themselves; you set how long each service takes in your account, where the calendar is too.
- About you
- In the example, “One bookkeeper who knows you”: who you are and how you work, with your own photo if you have one.
- Reviews
- Only reviews from your own customers that you add yourself; without reviews this block stays off.
- Where you work
- The places you cover, one by one; the example has 7: Cork city, Douglas, Ballincollig, Carrigaline and more.
- Opening hours
- Your hours for each day, with today highlighted; the example is open 5 days, the first from 08:30 to 17:00.
- Request an introductory meeting
- Only with the quote form and inbox: customers fill in ‘What do you need help with’, ‘Legal form’ and ‘Roughly how many invoices a month’, and each request lands in the inbox in your account.
- Contact
- In the example, “Fancy a chat?”: call, WhatsApp and email, and your address with a directions link if you show it.

Questions from bookkeepers
Can I call myself an accountant on my website?
Only the titles you’re entitled to. Chartered and certified accountant titles are protected by their institutes. The AI never adds titles or memberships you don’t type.
How do requests come in?
Through the quote form on your website. Your client says what kind of business they run and what they need help with. The form never asks for a tax number or bank details. Every request lands in the inbox in your account and you get an email. The form costs €18.15 to set up and €29.04 a year, incl. VAT (it comes with the Tradesman package). Without the form, customers simply call, message or email you.
Can I mention mortgage or insurance advice?
That advice needs its own authorisation from the financial regulator. If you have it, add it to your services; without it, leave it out.
Will the website say clients pay less tax?
No. Promises about the outcome of a tax return never go on your website. Your services say what you do, not what it brings in.
Will small businesses find me on Google?
Your website runs on your own domain name, Google can read it, and the code says what kind of business you are, your address if you show it, your hours and the places you cover. When someone searches “bookkeeper near me”, Google often shows businesses on the map first; for that you need a free Google Business Profile. Your account has a short checklist to set it up and to ask customers for a review. Nobody can promise you a top spot, and I won’t either.
How much does a website cost for a bookkeeper?
Website, 1 page: €67.76 the first year, then €43.56 a year, incl. VAT. What you do for sole traders and small businesses, your rates and how they reach you. Website, 1 page, with quote form and inbox: €114.95 the first year, then €72.60 a year. A request with the kind of business and what they’re looking for, for a proposal that fits. Tradesman: up to 5 pages with quote form and inbox: €143.99 the first year, then €72.60 a year. Your services, rates, way of working and contact each on a page of their own, with the request form on them. Website, 1 page, with online booking: €170.61 the first year, then €116.16 a year. New clients book an introductory call themselves at a time that suits you. The first year covers making your website, hosting, https and the domain name (a new one in your name, or your own); the years after cover hosting, the domain name and the add-ons you keep. Excl. VAT, that’s €56, then €36 a year.
How soon is my website online?
You see it while you fill in your details, on a computer and on a phone; the copy is written in about half a minute. Once you approve it and pay, it goes online straight away. Then I check it myself, within one working day. If the system flags something, I check first and the site goes online after that. Already have a domain name? Your website runs on it as soon as you’ve set the DNS records at your registrar; you get an email when it’s ready.
